President Tinubu Assures Of Investment in Early Grooming Of Young People
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has stressed the need to prepare Nigerian children for future leadership, saying the country must invest early in grooming young people. He said this at the launch of The Power of a Teenager: 50 Ways to Inspire Change, written by Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts and CALDEV Founder, Hon. Bamidele Salam.
Represented by Dr. Ibrahim Olanrewaju, the President described the confidence shown by children as a positive sign for the nation. Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, highlighted the importance of consistent efforts to shape young leaders. He commended Salam for dedicating each edition of the book to educating children, describing the work as a meaningful contribution to leadership development.
Hon. Salam said CALDEV was created to fill a leadership training gap and noted that its annual conference now attracts about 400 children, many of whom have become young advocates for social change. Minority Leader, Hon. Kingsley Chinda, urged youths to use their energy wisely and prepare for adulthood, warning that crime offers only short-lived gains.
Hon. Zainab Gimba praised the initiative for giving teenagers a voice, while a student poet, Hauwa’u Almustapha, said the event reminded her that children are the leaders of tomorrow.
